About Slapline and Our Editorial Standards

Last updated: 15 October 2026

Slapline is an independent editorial project covering ice hockey betting from a UK perspective. We publish data-led analysis on the NHL, the Elite Ice Hockey League, the Champions Hockey League and IIHF international hockey, with a hard focus on what the British punter can actually use under UK Gambling Commission rules.

Our editorial mission

The ice hockey betting niche is full of recycled US content and bookmaker landing pages. Our mission is to fill the gap with verifiable data, clearly attributed statistics and pre-bet workflows that respect both the reader’s intelligence and the regulatory environment they operate in.

How content is produced

Every article is researched, drafted and edited by the Slapline editorial team. We do not use ghostwriters and we do not publish operator-sponsored pieces dressed up as analysis. The author byline on each article reflects the editorial role responsible for the analytical framework, not a fictional personality.

Sources we use

We rely on primary sources wherever possible. For NHL statistics we use the league’s official records, the official save percentage and team splits, and major sportsbook reporting (Caesars, BetMGM, Bet365) for line-movement context. For UK regulatory data we use UK Gambling Commission publications and the GSGB survey. For EIHL coverage we use Elite Ice Hockey League official communications and club press releases. For integrity figures we cite the IBIA annual report and the IIHF Competition Manipulation Hub.

How statistics are verified

Every numerical claim that appears in a Slapline article is traced to a named primary source and a publication date. We mark the source inline, we date-stamp the figure, and we prefer the most recent confirmed dataset over modelled estimates. If a statistic cannot be verified to a primary source, we either remove it or label it explicitly as an estimate with the limitation noted.

How articles are reviewed

Articles go through a four-step internal process: outline against a content plan with explicit statistic and citation targets, drafted with all sources captured in working notes, edited by a second pair of eyes for accuracy and tone, and finally audited against a cannibalisation and quality checklist before publication. Material updates after publication are dated in the article body.

Our independence

Slapline does not accept bets, does not run an affiliate operator review programme positioned as editorial, and does not let commercial partners dictate ratings or recommendations. We mention specific operators only where they are relevant to the regulatory or market-depth point being made.

Responsible gambling commitment

We publish on a regulated market for adult readers aged eighteen and over. Every page links to BeGambleAware, GamCare and GamStop, and we treat responsible gambling content as a first-class part of the editorial brief rather than a footer afterthought.
